Diabetes Week may be over, but the testimonials keep coming, and we simply love sharing our team's stories with you. There is no better way to show the impact our dogs have on Type 1 Diabetic children and their families.

This one is a little bit special.

It comes from Team Leia, and it marks a first for us. While many of the children we support need a trained alert dog, not every child does. Some would benefit hugely from a calm, loving companion at their side, even where an assistance alert dog is not required.

That is exactly how Leia came to be our very first Companion Dog.

Here is what Team Leia had to say:

"Well where can we start? Leia is just the most special, loving and all together amazing treasure for our family. For our daughter, she wouldn't qualify for, or necessarily need an assistance alert dog.

So, what a perfect scenario! Hypo Hounds first 'Companion Dog'. They are a match made in heaven! We are delighted that our daughter was paired with Leia earlier this year. Leia makes her happier, calmer, improves her mental health and general fitness; which in turn helps to keep her blood glucose and HBA1C better.

Thank you Hypo Hounds- you are such an amazing charity. All of the staff are so professional and are sailing through such tricky times.

We are so grateful to you - Team Leia"

Stories like this mean the world to us. A calmer, happier child whose blood glucose and long-term control are improving, all thanks to the bond with one very special dog. That is what our Companion Dogs are all about.

Thank you, Team Leia, for letting us share your story.
