Our Diabetes Week stories continue with Team Woody, and a friendship that shows exactly why our partnerships work so well.

Woody and his partner are more than best friends. Theirs is a bond so deep that the two are almost inseparable, and that closeness is crucial to the job Woody does.

Woody alerts to both high and low blood sugar changes, catching the dangerous swings in either direction. But his role goes further than that. He also offers emotional support and a calming, grounding presence on set change days, when the insulin pump site is changed and things can feel especially stressful.

These are paws that do a great deal.

They bring support to exhausted parents and calm to distressed children. They improve clinical care, lift emotional wellbeing, and help protect long-term health too, all through early detection and quick intervention.

This is the difference a Hypo Hound makes to a family living with Type 1 Diabetes.

If you have a Type 1 Diabetic child and are interested in a dog of your own, please take note. Applications will be open for four weeks only this year, so the window is short.

We are also in desperate need of funds to make these partnerships a reality for more very special families.
